About the Basic Pay Scale

Government salaries in Pakistan follow the Basic Pay Scale (BPS) system, grades 1 to 22. Each grade has an initial (minimum) pay plus an annual increment up to a maximum. On top of basic pay, employees receive allowances such as house rent, medical, conveyance and periodic adhoc relief. The basic-pay and allowance figures follow the Revised Basic Pay Scales and are kept current as the Finance Division revises them.
